Beat Baumli Jazz GitarristBeat Baumli from Baden, Switzerland has been freelancing with countless Jazz formations since 1985. Passion and love for jazz music and his ongoing playfulness represent a very important aspect of his work as guitarrist, bandleader, arranger and composer. He was part time guitar instructor in various music schools from 1987 until 2021. Besides this, since 2014 he has been maintaining his personal record label "AllJazzRecords".

The timeless Jazz stile he is devoted to, finds its origins within the music of guitar players like Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino or Kenny Burell. However, during his intensive studies with well known and recognized teachers at famous music schools, and almost four decades of professional experience he has developed his own personal musical expression.

His sensitive, diversified guitaristic work is appreciated in a variety of duos, trios, and quartets with singers as well as with countless instrumental combos. Recordings with his collaboration on different bands are aired regularly on Radio. He was nominated for Swiss Jazz Award 2015 with his B.B. & J.M. Trio.

Voices of the media & press:

Beat Baumli is indeed an accomplished accompanist who develops his solos logically! He can do anything, but does not steal the show from the singer. (Excerpt from commentary on the Duo CD "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes" - Marcus A. Woelfle, Bayerischer Rundfunk)

Incidentally, she is only accompanied by an excellent Beat Baumli on guitar and Lorenz Beyeler on bass (Jazz"n"More magazine: excerpt from commentary on Alexia Gardner's Trio CD Live at Birds Eye Jazzclub)

There the very virtuoso guitarist could give free rein to his imaginative string excursions, and land again and again in safe harmony within the "song-structure".(Zofinger Tagblatt)

.... while Beat Baumli's single-note lines, replaced by occasional chordal improvised passages, in their soothing evenness ultimately formed the main tonal-aesthetic accents of the evening. (Aargauer Zeitung)

If the single-note playing was already a feast for the ears, Beat Baumli was particularly enchanting in the chordal solo passages with melodic, almost songlike improvised passages. (Badener Tagblatt)

Baumli's soulful virtuoso and dreamlike light-handed improvisations were fully exciting ...... (Happy Times Online Zeitung)
